The obverse depicts Emiliano Zapata, who was, and still is an iconic Mexican Revolutionary hero that fought for the people of Mexico. One of Zapata’s greatest contributions to the people was land reform. His philosophy, known by “Zapatismo”, was an armed movement, and attempted to create an economic equality among the peasant people in the state of Morales. This pattern coinage is struck in copper-nickel, sharply defined, and displays surfaces with faint amber tones. These characteristics produce a bold looking example that is equally attractive on both sides.
