Guatemalan 8 Reales were struck using cruder dies than other countries under Spanish rule striking similar Pillar Dollars during the era. Despite the crude die design, this example is slightly better in terms of quality in comparison to the XF45 we are offering for $2500. Some adjustment marks on the obverse are visible and light gray tones with champagne patina is what is most notable to view on the obverse. The eye-appeal is uniform and very attractive to view in person as our images are much lighter than the actual coin would be in hand. With a scant mintage of 120,700 pieces, this date is the the third most difficult to acquire within the series, and sought after by the collector looking to complete a date run.
