Guatemalan 8 Reales were struck using cruder dies than other countries under Spanish rule striking similar Pillar Dollars during the era. Despite the crude die design, this example is free from adjustment marks, displays light amber tones and champagne patina that is attractive to view with well preserved surfaces. With a scant mintage of 120,700 pieces, this date is the the third most difficult to acquire within the series, and sought after by the collector looking to complete a date run.
