Countermarked on a Charles IV 8 Reales dated 1806. This Lanark Mills issue has faded light gray patina with a bold counterstamp. Issued in Scotland privately during the industrial revolution as the Royal Mint at the time could not keep up with demand for coinage. Such issues are all considered rare today and highly sought after by collectors.
