During the Hanoi Exposition, displays of products from France, her colonies, and other territories were exhibited. Most notably, the exhibition celebrated Hanoi replacing Saigon as the capital of French Indo-China. A ceremony prior to the expo was held on February 26th 1902 which was attended by emperor Thành Thái and the governor general Paul Doumer. An official booklet is included that was issued with the medal designed by Oscar Roty. This AU/UNC boxed medal commemorates the Exposition in Hanoi from November 16th 1902- February 15/16th 1903.
