This is the famed ‘Pig’ rupee that offended numerous Indians on religious grounds. Controversy arose from the small elephant order on George V’s military regalia as this was thought to resemble a pig (actually an elephant), an unclean animal. Withdrawn and the design was reworked in 1912. Blast white and choice for the grade.
